My Writer’s Mind

It seems I’m always waiting. Most of my time is spent waiting in line, waiting on hold, waiting for my name to be called.

Today-I’m waiting at the doctor’s office-people watching-watching how other people wait and ease dropping in on their conversations. When I view it as a start to a story-it puts everything into another perspective and it lessens my anxiety over waiting.

Many people are like me-on their digital devices, some reading magazines or books, playing puzzles, staring off into space, holding general conversations.

It’s funny listening to the snippets of conversation-and in my writer’s
mind-creating the story line behind it. The world of possibilities open up.

This patient just walked out of the office, he has been waiting quite a long
time for his appointment. When the nurse called his name, the receptionist tells
her that he has left, he had to rush to a funeral. Now I wonder, who’s funeral?
Why didn’t he cancel the appointment and a host of who, what, when, where and how questions arise.

This is the best way to get stories started or a blog post-lol.

  1. I bring a book with me everywhere I go so I will not be an impatient patient. Ha! Especially if l have an “appointment.” Especially if I go to an “office.” I find that iPod and computer also work well. I never get mad because I have to wait.
